Sergeant William ‘Bill’ Swain MM was employed in Signals Intelligence during the Desert Campaign and was awarded the Military Medal for his actions under fire. He was later Commissioned and retired as Captain Swain MM.

His Military Medal was gifted to the museum by his Daughter at a ceremony in the Officers’ Mess, Chicksands in 2021.

The medal is now on display alongside those of his Desert Officer Commanding, Captain John Makower MC.
