Stephenson W, Major
Wilf Stephenson enlisted into the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (Territorials) in 1936 and serving with them in Norway in 1940, Iceland and North West Europe. In 1944 he transferred to the Dorsetshire Regiment and served with them until his discharge in 1946 when he was their Regimental Sergeant Major.
He re-enlisted a few months later and transferred to the Intelligence Corps in 1948, being commissioned in 1956. He later served as Quartermaster of the Intelligence Corps’ Depot and for the Volunteers, finally retiring as Major Stephenson TD in 1969.
His medals are, from left to right: 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, General Service Medal with Malaya Clasp, Long Service and Good Conduct (LS&GC) Medal and Territorial Efficiency Decoration (TD).
