Born in Ryton on Tyne in 1929, Staff Sergeant Malcolm Price joined the Army as a Boy Soldier in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, later transferring to the Intelligence Corps. His service spanned the years 1944 to 1969 and saw him in Cyprus, Borneo, Germany, Malaya and Aden where he was awarded a Commendation for the rescue of trapped aircrew when the aircraft they were flying crashed. He was attached to the Gurkhas and the Camel Corps of the Aden Protectorate and spoke seven languages, including Mandarin and Arabic.

His medals are, from left to right: 1939-45 War Medal, General Service Medal 1918-1962 with Clasps for Malaya, Near East and the Arabian Peninsula, the General Service Medal 1962-2007 with Clasps for Borneo and the Malay Peninsula and the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. He died on 3rd March 1997.
