Noakes SH, Lieutenant Colonel
Sidney Henry Noakes studied Law at Oxford before being called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1928.
He was commissioned into the Intelligence Corps in 1943 and by the end of the war was a Lieutenant Colonel.
His wartime history is very sparsely recorded as he spent it attached to M.I.5, who do not reveal details of their people or operations. He is pictured on the left relaxing in his military uniform.
Following the war, he returned to the legal profession becoming a Circuit Court Judge.
His peacetime hobbies were golf, walking and gardening. He retired to Hove in Sussex where he died in 1993.
