Lambert JH, Major
Major James Henry Lambert was awarded the MBE on 1st January 1945.
He had served in the Loyal Regiment and the Tientsin Police prior to the outbreak of war but made his way to India in 1939 and joined up on the General Service List.
He commanded No 2 Field Security Section in Burma, was Port Security Officer at Karachi and then an Airfield Security Officer for the ‘Hump’ re-supply flights from India to China.
After the war he was an observer in the War Crimes Trials in Rangoon, finally leaving the Army in 1948. Thereafter he continued to serve in the Malaya Police and in the MOD and the Ministry of Supply as a Security Officer.
He passed away on 4th April 1984.
