On 3rd June 1916 Major M.H.M Lamb was awarded the Military Cross followed by the award of the Legion D’ Honneur by France on 14th July 1917 and, a week later, by the award of the Distinguished Service Medal by the USA. He was also honoured by Belgium with the order of Leopoid II. He continued his impressive run of awards on 7th June 1918 when he was made Officer in the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

This Service should, almost certainly, have earned the War Medal and Victory Medal but these were not present when this group was acquired by the museum.
