This photo depicts 617 Indian Field Security Section, circa 1946. It was taken at the main base - a large house in the Marine Lines area of South Bombay (now Mumbai). Indian staff were headed by a Sikh Subadar, and the Section was led by a Pioneer Corps Captain. Top left is Senniappan, who was the Section driver of the 15cwt truck. P J L Holmes, who was with 617, wrote, 'I was very fortunate and privileged to have served with such a mixed ethnic and religious group working in such complete harmony.'
