Smith PJ, Sergeant

Sergeant Percy John Smith was one of the early contingent members as recorded by the clasp 5th Aug-22nd Nov 1914 on his 1914 Star. There followed the award of the War Medal and the Victory Medal with a mention in Despatches (MiD) signified by the Oak Leaf. Percy Smith ended the war as a Warrant Officer First Class (WO1).

His public service is recorded by the fourth medal from the left, a Metropolitan Police Coronation Medal from 1911. These follows the Meritorious Service Medal, awarded when he was a Sergeant, and Royal Victorian Medal which was awarded to those who had preformed personal services to the Sovereign or members of the Royal family. The last medal in the group is the Jubilee Medal 1935, issued to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V.
