Scotland AP, Lieutenant Colonel
Lieutenant Colonel AP Scotland OBE was awarded the 1914-15 Star, the War Medal and the Victory Medal for his service in the Great War as well as being awarded a Mention in Despatches.
He went on to serve during the Second World War where he is best known as the Chief Interrogator at ‘The London Cage’, responsible for interrogating prisoners of war and, later, war criminals. He is credited with foiling a mass prisoner breakout planned for the Christmas week in 1944. His award of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) dates from this period as do his 1939-45 Star and the Defence Medal and the War Medal. America also recognised his service with the award of the Bronze Star.
