A New Museum

We are planning to open a new Museum that will showcase British Military Intelligence like never before, in a site of national importance with its own military intelligence story to tell, and we need your help to achieve this.

Please read on to discover more and if you would like to be part of this unique project then please help us raise the funds needed to turn it into reality.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be the foremost military intelligence museum in the UK and internationally, providing a unique visitor experience and a comprehensive source of related research and archive material by ‘sharing the secret’.

We will expose what military intelligence is, how it works, what it achieves and who has done it, 'Sharing the Secrets', the intrigue, courage, suspense and innovation within the often bizarre world of espionage, counterintelligence and security, to name but a few of the many intelligence disciplines that we will exhibit.

 Milton Bryan

We aim to do this by refurbishing a long-derelict but hugely important WW2 era building on the outskirts of the Bedfordshire village of Milton Bryan.  The building has its own incredible military intelligence story, one that has never before been widely exposed to the general public.

We will then use the building and beautiful wooded grounds to tell the military intelligence story in an exiting, interactive, fun and fascinating way, being a world-class museum and attraction that will appeal to everyone who wants to know about military Intelligence as well as those who just want a good day out.

The Political Warfare Executive

An organisation called the Political Warfare Executive (PWE)  moved into the purposely constructed building located on the Duke of Bedford’s Woburn Estate and, under its Director Sefton Delmer, the building was then used during WW2 as a Top Secret broadcasting station for transmitting black propaganda.

Fully sanctioned by Winston Churchill, Delmer developed a sophisticated and highly successful campaign of deception and propaganda which was transmitted into Nazi Germany and enemy occupied territory across other parts of Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East and Africa from this building in Milton Bryan.

The site saw many important and well known visitors, including Naval Intelligence Liaison Officer, Ian Fleming, who later created 007 James Bond.   Delmer’s original broadcast studio remains in the building and will be a feature in the new museum.

Visitors to the new museum will be able to discover and understand the Intelligence 'Tool Kit –  Operational Intelligence (OPINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Security, Reconnaissance Intelligence, Analysis, Counter Intelligence, Surveillance, Deception, Psychological Ops and Cyber and many other intelligence capabilities.

Visitors, young and old alike, will be able to try their hand at spotting surveillance targets, code breaking, finding the spy, creating benign propaganda (fake news), air-photo interpretation and dead-letter box hunts amongst other fun and educational activities.

Other themes will cover Intelligence and Supporting Activities, examples of conventional and unconventional operations, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, peace-making, peace-keeping, war crimes investigations and support to humanitarian aid operations.

We will also show the doctrine and tactics used, as well as charting the development of British Military Intelligence from the Peninsular War to the Boer War and through WW1 & WW2, Korea, Malaya, Palestine, Belize, Northern Ireland, the Falklands, Bosnia, Kosovo and Libya to more recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It will be a unique museum in a unique building providing a unique visitor experience.  We hope that you will want to be part of this important project.

All it needs is your support.
